About Us
Kim Zilliox, founder of KZ Leadership, holds both a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), as well as a Master's degree in Career Counseling (MA) and is a Certified Coach.  She has had over 20 years of executive coaching, management, and consulting experience across a multitude of industries and non-profit sectors. She is a leadership expert.

Kim's background includes sales, sales management, managing and developing trainers, consulting, coaching, and career counseling.  In each of these roles, she has seen the benefits of hiring the right people for the right role, developing them well, and working to retain them.  Personally responsible for hiring, developing, and retaining her direct reports, Kim understands the challenges involved in this process and how the products from Inspiring Leadership can help streamline processes and improve results.  (Full bio below)

Kim's goal and passion is to assist organizations and individuals develop leadership.  Through skilled coaching, analysis, and feedback, she is able to move clients to the next level in their leadership and their careers.  Her business experience contributes to her ability to work cross functions and at all levels to work with clients to drive business results. 

Kim is well known for her team development workshops and individual and pairs coaching based on Myers Briggs (MBTI), DiSC, StrengthsFinder, FIRO-B, Thomas Kilman Conflict and HBDI assessments, and she is certified in the Lominger 360 tool which is utilized by both individuals in coaching engagements, in group settings, and across organizations.

Kim Zilliox, MA, MBA, CPCC full bio:

Kim Zilliox brings over 20 years of organizational consulting experience in training, coaching, sales, management, and career counseling. She held previous leadership roles at Stanford University, Santa Clara University, PlaceWare (now owned by Microsoft), and Frontier Communications. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge around leadership effectiveness, talent development, team building, and goal achievement. Kim specializes in working with managers to be successful, is skilled at coaching people to improve presentation and communication skills, and is passionate about team-building using various assessments and experiential activities. A competitive athlete and sport coach, Kim utilizes models from the sport coaching world to co-create success for the clients she works with.

For the past 17 years, Kim has coached hundreds of individuals and teams on achieving desired results. Through compassionate listening, being a huge stand for her client’s greatness, and holding people to account for what they are committed to, she is able to partner with people to achieve the results they desire. By using extensive business experience and coaching training, Kim is a highly effective trainer and coach.

Kim earned an M.A. in Counseling from Santa Clara University, an M.B.A. from UC Irvine, and a B.A. in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara. She has completed training from the Coaches Training Institute. She is qualified in the MBTI, DiSC, HBDI, and Strong Interest Inventory; is certified in the Lominger 360 tool; is a certified coach; has been an advisor to California Career Development Association; assists at local Bay Area OD Network meetings; is a member of Bay Area Association for Psychological Type; and of ASTD. 

Working at Stanford University for the Positive Coaching Alliance, Kim trained over 50 top-level sport coaches and psychologists on effective stand-up presentation skills. She has lead workshops to over 1000 coaches, parents, and youth sport leadership representatives on using effective communication skills to yield desired results. Her workshops have impacted over 10,000 young athletes to improve performance, increase confidence, and increase enjoyment.

During her sales experience, Kim sold an international, corporate-wide million-dollar web conferencing solution to Deloitte. She also sold to firms such as KPMG, Ernst and Young, Accenture, Eli Lilly, Motorola, Grant Thornton, BankOne, Federal Reserve Bank, and more. As a sales director, Kim trained and coached over 50 sales representatives in the art of selling and how to reach tough goals. At the same time, she was able to maintain the lowest turnover due to her skills at building effective, cohesive teams and with being a fierce stand for communication. Kim knows how to produce successful sales results and performed consistently in the top 10% in the country.

As a career counselor, Kim has worked with hundreds of clients in all elements of the career transition process. She specializes in coaching people through the interview process and using assessments to help people know more about their strengths and weaknesses. She has been seen on the TV show "You're Hired", and hundreds of speaking engagements across the globe, and has taught a course at Santa Clara University on Career Strategies and The Leadership Challenge.
